KICK A@@ SLARTIBARTFAST!
I was starting to believe we'd kind of written ourselves into a corner with the body-switch thing. GARBLE youre installment not only gave an AMAZING explanation but provided a FANTASTIC set-up for the next installment !
(Dude you have the BEAST down pat!)
WOW!

Wow, this is great, guys. Forget the comics. Seriously. Anyone read Ultimate X-Men, by the way? Well, whatever--no Kurt there http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif This is where it's at.

Thanks guys. Now, Rex, BAMF!, it's your guys turns!

I have to say, as much as I am enjoying this story I hope Kurt gets turned back into his fuzzy-guy self soon. I'm just not as into Mystique as a lot of people.
I like you're installment Garble. I got a chuckle out of Kurt's irritableness.

That was tight! Great installment, Slar. I wanna play! I've got an exam tomorrow, but I promise as soon as I get out of it I'll start working on a segment.

Danke, Rex! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Good luck on that test!
Tomorrow promises to be a long, boring eight hours so I'm brainstorming for fuzzy ideas. I plan to do some serious fic writing. I'm also thinking about that other fic I posted a while back and what to do with that. It could just stand alone, I suppose.
Ya know, I honestly never wrote fiction at all, let alone fan fic, before this but now I can't stop. I read a lot and I tried a couple stories but I never finished them. I guess Kurt is my muse. Weird, ain't I.

Your wish is my command, Spatch. I actually wrote this yesterday during one of my previously stated bored periods at work. I really don't care for Mystique much myself, so let's get rid of one of her!
+++++++++++++++++++
"All right...this should work."
"Should?"
"I hope you're joking, mein freund."
"I'm trying to reverse engineer a metagenic serum that I've never even seen! This is the best I can do in two days. In all my simulations it works perfectly," Hank held the hypodermic up to the light, twisting it and squinting into its depths. "You still have your own DNA, Kurt. But, you have a bit of Mystique's also, plus something else I can't identify. I'm trying to strip her power away but leave you intact, it isn't easy."
"You're sure this will work," Kurt perched nervously on the side of the dusty, overstuffed chair. "I can stay this way a bit longer if it will help. I would hate to be scrambled like an egg."
Despite the situation, Kitty smothered a giggle; it looked so silly for Mystique's form to adopt that gargoyle-like pose. She was so tired.
Hank skewered them with a blue eye. "It will work."
Kurt sighed, hopping down from the chair. "Let's get on with it then. If I become a pile of blue goo it will be on your head; I know your track record with experimental formulas, Beast."
Hank smirked at Kurt?s jibe and began hooking monitors to him as he sat down on the bed. Kitty walked to him, pulling a chair behind her. She would be here with him, whatever happened. Hank had warned her it may not be pleasant, but she couldn't abandon him.
"These monitors are just a precaution," he said. "If something goes wrong I have a neutralizer that will stop the process in its tracks."
"That's what I meant about the egg..." Kurt muttered, lying down and settling himself amongst the wires. A worried crease formed between Mystique?s eyebrows.
They had hidden him in an unused portion of the mansion. After the interruption in the morgue it was clear that a new hiding place was called for. Storm had barged in, demanding to know the cause of Mystique?s death. Kurt had almost given the game away with his muffled yelp as Kitty slammed the cadaver drawer shut. Hank soothed her as best he could, telling her that because of Mystique?s power her body had begun to decompose quickly. Kitty nodded fervently, her nose crinkled in faux distaste. Storm had looked at the drawer for a long moment before she relaxed and asked Kitty and Hank to come back to the medlab with her; Kurt was ready to talk, she had said.
The real Kurt had not been at all happy to be left in the drawer and had quickly 'ported out, much to Hank and Kitty?s dismay when they returned for him. Kurt had been waiting in the shadows for them and decided to let them sweat a bit before revealing himself with a cough.
"Danke, mein freunden, as much as I appreciated being left in that stinky, cold drawer," he had said with a fake smile. "It did give me time to come up with a plan. Come, I think I know just the place to hide."
Kurt?s idea had been a good one. The doors to the room they now occupied had been sealed long ago by the professor for some mysterious reason. The only way in or out was Kitty's phasing or Kurt's teleportation. It was unlikely that anyone would hear them, or figure out where they were.
"Are you ready?"
"Ja."
Kitty reached out and grabbed his hand. He looked up at her, Mystique's eyes wide with fear. She watched the Adam's apple travel up and down his throat with his nervous swallows.
"Injecting." Hank intoned unnecessarily as he slid the needle into Kurt's vein.
For a moment nothing happened. The room was silent, save for Kurt's rapid breathing and the steady beep of the heart monitor.
Suddenly his hand clamped down on hers painfully. The monitor went wild as his body thrashed. Kitty threw herself across him, attempting to hold him down as Hank rushed to the monitors. She phased her hand free.
"What's happening!" Kitty's voice was shrill with fear.
"Well, nothing, really," Hank straightened his glasses and studied the readouts intently. "This reaction is within the parameters of my simulations. It just looks bad, sorry." He smiled at her sympathetically.
His convulsions slowed and Kitty retreated to her chair, pulling his hand back with her. As she closed her fingers around his she felt a wave of energy pass through his body.
He began to change before her startled eyes. His face shimmered and Mystique's features became harder, the lines more masculine. His hair shortened, darkening to its customary blue-black. His lips, peeled back in a grimace, exposed lengthening canine teeth. She looked up into Hank's round eyes.
"Fascinating..." he murmured.
Kurt's breathing slowed and she looked down at the hand in hers. Flesh squirmed as fingers melted together and reformed. She watched, enchanted and repulsed at once, as the hand became familiar again.
Hank ran his eyes slowly down the figure on the bed and let out his breath. He hadn't realized he had been holding it.
"Three fingers, three toes and a tail," he beamed at Kitty's stunned face. "It's a boy!"
***************************
There. Now I really won't do anything else until a few other people get a chance.
'kay b'bye

Thank god, I have just managed to get one finger out from under The Evil Mit's restraints, I just had to write something here, you guys are doing such a great job I just had to play
You've all heard the expression "I know it like the back of my hand" ya? Well do you really? Have you ever sat down and really studied what is in front of you all of your life? No, neither had I until I was stuck in the form of someone else's body. Now that I have it back I am more than happy to see, touch and cherish what God has given me. Even if mine is just a little more unique than everybody else's!
"So?"
"Well Hank my friend, if I wasn't worried about you and me getting stuck together like velcro, I would probably be kissing you right now!"
"I think this will be the first time I shall be blessing my stars and garters for my fuzzy exterior."
"You should be so lucky" Ah, Kathryn, what could I say to her that could possibly express how I feel for her. She was the only one that I could trust, and more than that she was the only one that trusted me. For that I will always be in her debt. I just hope my eyes express what I am feeling and by the look on her face, they do.
"And what know?" It is always the "fun loving" Beast that brings us all back to Earth with a bump "We still have the problem of an impostor Nightcrawler in the mansion, and one missing feral friend, a conundrum of mensa proportions."
"So Kurt, any ideas? I'm sure you still remember how to be our fearless leader?"
Oh how I would like to be back in those days. Excalibur, Muir Island ... Moira. Already it seems like such a long time ago. I shouldn?t be regretful as I chose to leave Excalibur behind, but Moira she was different. She had no choice like I did, she was taken from us, and for that my mother has to pay. "I am going to do the only thing I can do Katzchen. Something I should have done a long time ago. I am finally going to confront my mother."
"What's all this 'I' business Kurt? WE are in this together now, and WE are going to get out of it, okay?"
"Well I don't think 'we' or 'I' will have any choice on that matter I'm afraid-" Before the Beast can even finnish his sentence the doors that we thought were permanently sealed burst open with such furiosity none of us can stay on our feet. It seems even welded six inch steel doors aren't even a match for hurricane force winds!
If it wasn't for Kitty's quick thinking by phasing us through the debris we would all be with Moira right now. That's twice in one day she has saved my life. But the explotion only caused temporary wounds, what I hear next will wound me for a long time to come. Before I even regain my focus I begin to hear my own voice talking back to me:
"...see? What did I tell you? She has taken my guise. And I will also bet my tail, that they are neither the Beast or Shadowcat but other members of the Brotherhood disguised using Masterminds trickery."
?Is this true?" No, Storm, please don't be taken in by her lies.
"Show yourself impostors" Peter, no, not you too. There is only one way to do this, show them that I trust them, show myself so they know that they can trust me too. Here goes nothing...
"Please my friends, don't believe her. She is the impostor, you have to believe me"
Okay so that's my bit, I don't know why I decided to do it from the first person but it was kinda fun ... Oh no, Evil Mit is coming back ... No sir I wasn't typing anything ... yes, you are my daddy ... What are you putting peanut butter on that for? .... Nooooooo

Okay, you might feel like I'm resolving too much here, but frankly, the suspense was killing me. Feel free to stir things up a bit.
--------
His phased legs waded up through the piled debris until his whole body was clear of it, unprotected before the X-Men. He released Kitty's hand and felt her fall back behind him.
"Please my friends," he pleaded to their stony faces, "don't believe her. She is the imposter, you have to believe me!"
His answer was an organic-steel fist around his throat. His vision exploded into bright spots as Peter lifted him bodily off the ground, impossibly strong fingers closing his windpipe, cutting his circulation. He could barely even gasp as consciousness wavered and faded.
Somewhere in the distance, he heard Kitty scream, and his awareness rushed suddenly back as his body lost substance and slipped like air through the metal fist. He crashed to the ground, Kitty's slender limbs tangled with his own, the metal man looming over them both.
But the steel eyes blinked down at them uncertainly. "Katya?" he said, his Russian accent growing thicker around the old nickname. "Is that really you?"
"Of course it's me, you lummox!" she shouted, clutching the dazed Kurt tighter. "Do I need to tell you how many pairs of dress socks you owned as of five years ago, or what your second-favorite color is?"
Peter blinked again, brows contracted in uncertainty.
Kurt sighed, watching his big friend struggling with the dilemma. "This is getting repetitive," he groaned, earning himself a punch on the shoulder from Kitty. He watched as the X-Men flanking the indecisive Peter--Psylocke, Rogue, Cecilia, and Gambit--drew closer, ready to take over if he should back down. He gulped at the pink flash of Betsy's katana as she produced it from her fist.
Suddenly the wind picked up again. Kurt felt Hank's hand on his shoulder--it was the three of them, against the rest of the X-Men. Kitty phased them as the wind kicked up more and more debris.
"I've had quite enough of this nonsense," came the booming voice of the Windrider as she descended toward them. Even Peter fell back behind her, unwilling to interfer with whatever she had decided upon.
"As you can see, Ororo," shouted Hank over the noise of the rising indoor gale, "Kitty's powers are keeping us quite safe from you, so there ought to be no question about her authenticity!"
"An easy enough illusion to generate," said Ororo coldly. "And I don't think even phasing powers are a defense against electricity."
"Ororo--no!" screamed Kitty, her last syllable drowned out by the crash of a window being blown outward. With the house now exposed to the sky, lightning could be seen flickering in the clouds above.
"Kurt's powers ought to be able to remove you to safety," the Windrider answered calmly.
"But Ororo," Hank shouted, "he's too weak from the procedure! He's just had his DNA manipulated, you can't expect him to be able to use his powers! Don't do this, Ororo!"
There was no reply from the majestic mutant; she drifted silently aloft, white hair swirling in a cloud around her head. Pupilless eyes sparked with electricity in her darkened face.
The air around the three beleaguered mutants began to crackle with static. Kurt turned to face his two friends. "I'm strong enough," he said, "at least for one jaunt. Perhaps I can convince the X-Men that I'm me at the same time."
"You could injure yourself," Hank protested.
"Ororo will manage that anyway in just a second," Kitty growled. "Do it, Fuzzy."
Kurt closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm his mind and focus his energy. Then, picturing the opposite end of the mansion in his mind, he teleported. A bolt of lightning split the cloud of brimstone that was all that remained of them.
They rematerialized on the patio of the mansion. Thunderheads were still gathered over the house, and rain was beginning to fall, steaming on the warm stones. Kurt fell to his knees, gasping with the effort, clinging to Kitty for support. "They'll find us quickly," said Hank.
Sure enough, the X-Men arrived within minutes. Kurt felt his body paralyzed by an unseen force, and realized that all three of them were being held by Psylocke's telekinesis. The X-Men surrounded them in a semi-circle, watching them warily.
Ororo alighted beside them as Peter appeared, gripping the ersatz 'Kurt' by the arm a bit tighter than was probably comfortable. A small smile crossed Kurt's face as he noted the nervousness now evident in his mother's demeanor.
Gambit shook his head, considering the three. "Katey phased, Kurt teleported ... what else do we want from dem, Stormy?"
Ororo looked to 'Kurt' who was twisting in Peter's grasp. "I'm telling you," he hissed, "it's all a trick. You must believe me, Storm!"
"Well, my friends, it seems as though we're at an impasse," she said. "There is now a reasonable doubt cast upon your story, Kurt--if you are Kurt after all. And you--" she turned to Kitty, Kurt and Hank "--you have nothing that corroborates your claims entirely, either. Any ideas would be appreciated, X-Men."
The group glanced around at each other, faces blank. Kurt breathed easier, noting that Psylocke had 'sheathed' her katana, and Gambit had powered down his cards. But he was still paralyzed--they hadn't won yet.
"We'll just have to keep all of 'em--both 'Kurts' included--under lock an' key until we can get some real answers," said Rogue with a shrug.
"I concur," said Ororo. "Betsy, Peter, Rogue--see to it."
"Hold yer horses," came a gravelly voice from the bottom of the steps. Seconds later, a tattered, bloody figure stepped up onto the patio. "That's Mystique yer holdin' onto, Petey," he said, leaning heavily against the railing. "I'd bet my bottom dollar, 'cause the nose says so, an' the nose don't lie--ever."
Everyone stared at the diminutive wild-man, suddenly returned from his inexplicable absence, huffing and puffing against the railing. "Logan!" Kurt cried, just as Kitty started to her feet.
The other 'Kurt' suddenly broke free from the grasp of the stunned Peter. His face was barely recognizable, Kurt's pleasant features twisted into an uncharacteristically savage grimace. "You're supposed to be dead!" he screamed as he leapt for Logan's throat. As he sailed through the air toward Logan, his shape shifted into that of Sabretooth, and the impact sent both mutants tumbling over the railing.
Remy sniffed. "It'll be no contest."
"Wrong," said Rogue as she moved into action. "Logan's too exhausted!"
The fight was over, though, by the time they reached the bottom of the steps. Logan knelt on his hands and knees, coughing and gulping down air. "She ran," he gasped, struggling to his feet.
"Ah'll find her," said Rogue, and she was gone in a flash.
----------
Will Rogue apprehend the malicious Mystique? Will Ororo finally be convinced of the more and more obvious truth? Will the other authors of the fanfic thread decide to drop the Kurt/Kitty subplot for good, or will it survive the ravages of multiple action installments? You decide.
-Rex
-
Good one Rex. I really enjoyed that, some good old fashioned fist fighting! Its good to see some ends being tied up but I don't think this one is over by a long shot....
---------------
?Rogue come back!? shouted Storm, but it was too late. Rogue had a score to settle and nothing was going to stop her.
?I?ll go after her?
?Remy? Are you so sure that is a good idea?? Questioned the wind rider.
?Non. But I want to try anyway? And with that the Cajun was gone after the southern belle.
?Let him go ?Ro, those two can look after themselves. And anyway we got something a bunch more dangerous to deal with.?
?What do you mean Logan? And how did you escape?? Asked Kurt, still exhausted from his teleportation, but still with it enough to see the look in Logan?s eyes. The one that says ?it?s not time to tell them now?. He understood.
?Mystique has really dug herself a ditch this time. Y?see she?s creating super soldiers using her and mine DNA but she doesn?t realise yet what she has done....?
------------------------------
Four hours earlier.
What?s that noise. Sounds like an alarm. A lot of commotion. People running. They seem excited. Huh the doors open. What a surprise. ?What you want Creed??
?So, the runt is still with us. Hahaha. Good, I?m glad you?ll still be here to witness what we -- or should I say you? -- have created. You can be witness to the finest moment that the Brotherhood has ever seen. The creation of a whole new member.?
?Your sick Creed. You can?t go around messing with genetics like this, haven?t you learnt anything. Look at us, it never works.?
?That?s where you are wrong little brother. We worked perfectly. The only surprise was that you lasted this long. You just keep coming back like a bad rash. But even your stubborn willingness to live will soon be subdued. It?s time to introduce you to our new family member.?
?Are you sure Mystique won?t mind you playing with her toy??
?Well she isn?t here is she. She?s gone off to play with all you X-buddies. Just like she did with your son.?
?No she will not kill anyone else today I promise.?
?You never give up do you runt. Well enough of the pleasantries let me introduce you to .... THE NEW WEAPON X.?
The door to the cell opens letting in bright light which momentarily blinds me. But as quick as there is light it is gone again as it is eclipsed by a huge frame. What is that thing? Nothing human can be that big surely. What has she created? Its like a walking, living tool for mass destruction. Its eyes are so vacuous. I don?t think I?ve ever been scared before in my life but now, for the first time, I know how it feels to be afraid.
?Weapon X meet the old school. Soon to be the deceased school. Weapon X say ?hello??
It?s mouth, if that is what it is slowly opens and it growls out the the most sinister ?hello? I have ever heard.
?Oh now this is fun, you see it does anything I say. Weapon X punch him in the stomach?
Without flinching the -- the thing punches me with a force I could never thought of being possible. If it wasn?t for my bones being coated in pure adamantium I don?t think they would be anything more but powder now. It punches again, this time stronger, and again, and again. Is this going to be this to be how I die?
?Stop now Weapon X, that?s enough. I?m want to finnish him off.? But the thing keeps punching and punching ?I said stop, did you not hear me?? A hand lashes out and grabs Sabertooth by the throat, now I can see the fear in his eyes as well as my own. It throws Sabertooth across the room like he is a rag doll and goes back to work on me. Suddenly the room is alive with chaos as The Blob and Toad enter the fracas.
The Toad is the first to fall as he is swatted like a fly but then my biggest fears are confirmed as Weapon X punches the Blob off his feet and into the adjoining room! Sabertooth is back on his feet now trying to use his agility to stay out of the monsters way while still inflicting the maximum amount of damage. But he knows he cannot beat it alone.
?Sabertooth, release me it is the only way we are ever going to beat it.?
?Never, I can take it? Just as the words come out of his mouth Weapon X lands a blow that I can see visibly fractures Sabertooth's skull and he lies motionless on the floor. And then it turns again to me.....
Okay that's the first installment if anyone wants to finnish it off your welcome. Or I will come back at the weekend to do the rest of Logan's escape. So who's next? Slar? Bamf? KC?
